Neither Brilliant Nor Daft

With my notsocatchy title, I am referring to the idea (mentioned in my previous post) that I was going to share here. At that time I was not sure if it was brilliant i.e. genius idea or a daft slash mediocre one. 

I will never know because my fantastic plan is not going to happen. 

The reason is a missing fire escape staircase, yes. I also couldn't believe my bad luck.

All I wanted to do was to amaze the local community with some art. I approached an empty property owner and suggested a small collaboration. They have an empty glass-front room that has been empty for years now and I have lots of amazing artist friends who are willing to share their work..., but no. No fire escape staircase.

I am actually puzzled by this answer. It is true that the room that I was after is on the first floor, so a stair is absolutely needed unless one can fly, and as far as I can see inside of the property, there is a really nice, solid and wide staircase. It is also equipped with a rather beautiful wooden bannister. I mean, it has it all. I wonder if this is not good enough in case of fire but what are the landlord going to do about it? Are they going to have an empty room forever because an additional or a different staircase is not in place?

Possibly. Not my problem.

The good news is that in the meantime I have been selected for an art residency at the Cambridge School of Art, it is a residency linked to AA2A organisation. I am pretty happy about it because now I get to spend more time making art and hopefully this will trigger another even more spectacular idea.
